Every river teaches the same lesson.
It moves with purpose, yet never with urgency.
It does not compete with the wind.
It does not argue with the rocks.
It does not announce its destination.
It simply keeps flowing.
Perhaps meaningful work grows in the same way.
For years, I believed my work was to write.
Lately, I have begun to notice that some of the most meaningful work happens after the article is published.
The conversations matter too.
Some journeys continue only in conversation.
Writing attracts people.
Conversation reveals them.
Every meaningful journey eventually becomes a shared one.

Some people read and move on.
Others stay.
They ask questions.
They contribute.
They make themselves available.
Not every conversation becomes a collaboration.
The meaningful ones change both people.
Those are the relationships that quietly shape institutions.
The river does not choose who comes to its banks.
It simply remains a place where people can arrive.
Perhaps our work should be the same.
Not louder.
Not faster.
Only deeper.
The river doesn’t rush.
It simply keeps flowing.

Acknowledgements
Every river is fed by countless streams before it reaches the sea.
This reflection carries something of my own experience, and something of what life, mentors, books, conversations, and friendships have taught me.
I remain grateful to everyone who has shaped the way I see, think, and serve.
I remain a student.
